The fifth edition of the Mój Prąd program, which started on April 22, has aroused interest among Poles. According to Paweł Mirowski, vice-president of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, in the first week alone, almost 4.5 thousand applications were submitted for a total amount of almost PLN 36 million. At this rate, the declared budget will be exhausted much faster. So there is no point in delaying! How does Mój Prąd 5.0 differ from previous editions? What funding can you count on? And who can benefit from the assistance?
The Mój Prąd program has been a great success! Since the project's launch in 2019, over 400,000 subsidies have been paid out, for a total amount of almost PLN 1.75 billion. According to experts, thanks to the micro-installations created under the program, it has been possible to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Interestingly, the option of subsidies for the purchase and installation of energy storage facilities is very popular. In the previous, fourth edition of the program, over 2 thousand applications concerned energy storage facilities, for which prosumers received a total of over PLN 31 million in subsidies. This is good news. Investment in energy storage facilities contributes to increased self-consumption of the energy produced, which is of great importance for modern energy.
Heat pumps and solar collectors on the support list
Since its first edition, which was launched in 2019, the Mój Prąd program has undergone quite a revolution. The biggest changes include the extension of the scope of subsidies to include, among others, energy and heat storage facilities, as well as the increase in the level of financial support – in the case of energy storage facilities, more than doubling. The new conditions were a response to the growing importance of storing energy generated in home photovoltaic installations. The aim was to increase the self-consumption of electricity.
The new version of the government program differs even more from the previous ones. The new thing is the subsidies for heat pumps and solar collectors for hot water. The idea of expanding the material scope of the subsidies is to support beneficiaries in the process of transforming residential buildings into low-emission and energy-efficient homes.

What support can we count on?
The budget of the new edition of the Mój Prąd program is estimated at PLN 955 million. A beneficiary who decides on several thermal modernization solutions can count on up to PLN 58 thousand in subsidies.
The amounts of individual subsidies are as follows:
- up to PLN 7,000 (PLN 6,000 without additional elements) for PV micro-installations with a capacity of 2-10 kW,
- up to PLN 16,000 for energy storage,
- up to PLN 5,000 for heat storage,
- up to PLN 3,000 for the HEMS/EMS system,
- up to PLN 3,500 for solar collectors,
- up to PLN 28,500 for a ground-source heat pump,
- up to PLN 4,400 for an air-to-air heat pump,
- up to PLN 12,600 for an air-to-water heat pump,
- up to PLN 19,400 for an air-to-water heat pump with an increased energy class.
Who is eligible for funding?
The Mój Prąd 5.0 program is aimed at prosumers who generate electricity for their own needs in home photovoltaic installations with a capacity of 2 to 10 kWh. The condition for using government support is to settle the produced energy in the net-billing system. The subsidy can also be received by people who decide to switch from the discount system (net-metering) to net-billing.
Interestingly, participation in one of the previous editions of the program does not exclude receiving funding in Mój Prąd 5.0. Therefore, assistance can be used by people who previously received a subsidy and decided to expand their home micro-installation with new devices, e.g. a heat pump or an energy storage unit.
My Electricity 5.0 – what else is worth knowing?
The qualification period for the program remains the same as in previous editions - from 1 February 2020. In practice, this means that all expenses related to the purchase, installation and commissioning of the PV micro-installation and additional elements must fall within the period from February 2020 to the date of submission of the application.
Grants received under the Mój Prąd 5.0 programme can cover up to 50% of eligible investment costs.
Applications can be submitted via the website https://gwd.nfosigw.gov.pl/. Electronic versions of invoices or receipts for the delivery and installation of individual elements, or certificates from the Distribution Network Operator confirming the date of connection of the micro-installation to the network, must be prepared in advance. The full list of necessary documents is available at mojprad.gov.pl/zloz-wniosek.
